Practicing this behavior also causes me to create a mental gratitude list. Not one that says, wow, I am so glad I am not dealing with the things my neighbor is, but an attitude that is thankful to God for all he has done for me. My prayer might look something like this:
- God thank you for teaching me that I have choices; that I can chose to eat healthy or not and that you will still love me.
- Father, teach me to reach out to someone else, someone who needs you in their life. Someone who needs to feel your love and acceptance and most of all your HOPE.
- Send your Holy Spirit to me today and fill me with a desire to encourage someone today.
Scripture encouragement for today is from Psalm 94:19 (NIV) "When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul."
