Practicing this behavior also causes me to create a mental gratitude list. Not one that says, wow, I am so glad I am not dealing with the things my neighbor is, but an attitude that is thankful to God for all he has done for me. My prayer might look something like this:
- God thank you for teaching me that I have choices; that I can chose to eat healthy or not and that you will still love me.
- Father, teach me to reach out to someone else, someone who needs you in their life. Someone who needs to feel your love and acceptance and most of all your HOPE.
- Send your Holy Spirit to me today and fill me with a desire to encourage someone today.
Scripture encouragement for today is from Psalm 94:19 (NIV) "When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul."

Psalm 94:19 - what wonderful words to carry with me!!! This past week I have needed more of Him and less of me. Sitting in ER and many waiting areas I have been more aware of God's presence in my life. There were people who were alone, lost in grief and pain...hopeless, helpless and overwhelmed. I found myself smiling at them, talking with them, handing out my breakfast bars, listening to their stories. Though anxiety was great within me, God's comfort created a desire in my heart to set it aside and reach outside myself. I was blessed and I pray that I made a happy moment in someone else's life. To God be the glory!
