What's your destination?

Know where you are going - Before I learned that my obsession with food and eating was a stronghold, I always had such lofty goals. They were the sort of goals that were a set-up for disaster. While loosing 80 pounds is not necessarily an unhealthy goal, doing it in 6 months is unrealistic. If I want to keep the weight off I need to use common sense when setting goals.

Setting goals is nothing more that having a clear vision of where it is I want to go. When beginning this journey it is not necessary that I know exactly where I will end up, in fact it is probably smarter if I parcel out my voyage into smaller road trips.

Instead of declaring that I am going to loose 80 pounds I find it more helpful for me to have a mile-marker of shedding 10 pounds and spending 10 minutes a day talking with God about the process and asking for wisdom and guidance for this leg of the journey.

This will help me to accomplish a few things right from the start:
  • I can ease into this new lifestyle knowing that I am not biting off more than I can chew
  • I will have the pleasure of God's company on this expedition
  • Once I have reached my first mile marker of 10 pounds I can celebrate this event and the changes I am experiencing
  • I can look forward to the next goal and make a plan to achieve it in the most realistic manner
Scripture encouragement for today comes from 2 Samuel 22:3 "My God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold and my refuge."

Grace 'n Grins,
Judy
