N is for NEVER

If we are honest with ourselves we will admit one reason we struggle so with our food addiction is because we allow depressing thoughts and self-talk to determine our next move. The letter "N" seems to bring with it these negative undertones. Words like no, not, nothing, notorious, noxious, all speak to feelings of pessimism.

Never, is another word which could be construed as gloomy.  Let's not do that, let's make sure we use the word never to convey change and new direction; never giving up.

Let us list a few optimistic words that begin with "N" and perhaps we can change this mindset around. Nirvana comes to mind as does nougat, natatorium and nimbus. OK, I guess I am having a little fun with you now; I can see you reaching for your dictionaries. That is a good thing.

While you are at it, reach for your Bible and see if you can't find some "N" words there with constructive connotations. Perhaps turn to Isaiah 62:2 and read about the new name by which we shall be called.  Or read Jeremiah 31:31 and hear about eh new covenant the LORD will make with the house of Israel.  When you have a moment, read all of Psalm 27 and see if you don't feel loved and protected by God.
