Spiritual - Those of us dealing with a food stronghold feel like we should be able to handle what we eat on our own; that it is not a spiritual issue. After all, eating is a necessary part of life and under our control. Or is it? At some point, the food began controlling us. The tables turned and we have come to the fork in the road. (No pun intended.) The choice is before us.
- Continue down the road of "I can handle it. I will just..." or
- Surrender our food stronghold to God
Jesus is clear in His Word that being Christian does not equate to a life without trials. He warns us of trials ahead and reassures us that the Holy Spirit will be there to guide, counsel, and comfort us. Coming to the realization and acknowledging that we can't handle our food stronghold is our first step to freedom. There is freedom in surrendering to a power greater than ourselves.

Yes, there "IS freedom in surrendering to a power greater than ourselves"! And my help DOES "come from he Lord". Judy, you are right on. I cannot face the call of food on my own. God gives me the way out and helps me turn or correct myself. Yes, the choice is still mine, eat the food or turn to God. That is the battle I can't win on my own...God gives me the power over food and I am learning to reach for His strength more and more.
