More Choices

It's Friday! - Do those words usually predict a struggle with eating? Often it is such a relief to finally get to Friday that I throw all the efforts of the week out the window. Friday can mean going out to dinner, a break from cooking. Friday can mean release from a stress-filled work week. Friday can signal a time to take a break. Do you know what? There is nothing wrong with any of this thinking as long as a sensible plan accompanies it.

As the years go by, we do get quite professional at this practice of dieting. I am starting to realize that a diet never works. It is too restricting and doesn't allow for a life of spontaneity. It is simply important that I educate myself about which foods will fuel me and fill me and which foods will fool me.

Enjoy Friday and dinner out with friends or at home by the fireplace. Working on a food stronghold does not require a life of boring meals. There are lots of fun, fulfilling food to enjoy as we enter the weekend. It is not about the food as much as the fellowship.

Scripture encouragement for today is from Proverbs 16:3 "Commit to the Lord whatever you do and your plans will succeed."

  1. I agree. I have never been able to stick to a DIET. An eating program that denies or deprives me of certain foods just doesn't put my head on straight about my eating. I know what foods inch me up. I am the one who has to admit that and pay attention to my eating habits. A day off my personal good eating habits is NOT going to be a big deal. It will be if I eat wrongly day after day. So if I choose to celebrate and eat a piece of birthday cake with friends. I enjoy, knowing tomorrow I won't have cake but I will remember yesterday's good time with friends.
