Are We There Yet? - How many times have you heard this cry coming from the back seat? How many times have you turned halfway in your seat and patiently said, "No, just sit back and relax, we have a long way to go yet. Why don't you take a nap or play a game with your sister?"
How did that work for you?
I know from experience that if I did not have a plan, a bag of tricks ready to pull out for times like this, it would be a very long journey indeed! So, what is in that bag of tricks? How do I plan to enjoy this journey when it seems endless, and like I will never arrive at my destination?
Plan a detour - Taking a different route will break up the monotony. I look for ways to change up my menu for today
Prepare some treats - I know which foods I especially enjoy, so I will enjoy them, but I will be smart about it.
Practice patience - I need to have a picture of myself in my mind without the food stronghold over-powering me. I need to see clearly what that will look like. I also need to realize that I only need to take baby steps to achieve this goal. I didn't get here overnight.
Provide grace - not every day will go as I have it planned. I must be flexible so that I don't crack or worse yet, break!
Scripture encouragement for today is from Lamentations 3:22-23 "Because of the LORD's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness."
