Ways to Enjoy the Journey

Are you having fun yet? - There are many ways to enjoy the journey, to take pleasure in whatever season of life you find yourself. The disciples were walking on the Emmaus Road and didn't recognize Jesus when he joined them. They could have had such a joyous reunion, but because they were stuck in yesterday they missed the miracle today provided.

This reminds me of times that I did not recognize Jesus in my life either. I missed the joy that He offered me because my eyes were only focused on yesterday and I did not allow myself the luxury of scanning the horizon for today's blessings. I am finally learning that when I am in the midst of a difficult time, a leg of the trip that is particularly hard to maneuver through, I try to open my eyes wider, search out the road in front of me for signs of His presence.

I do this by
  • Re-reading my journal entries from times of past struggle and hardship. Can I identify where it was that God stepped in and took over? Can I see just how His presence in my life made all the difference?
  • Going to my accountability or prayer partner and asking them to pray with me. This partner can give a new perspective and can help us see the truth that we might be blind to.
  • Searching the scripture and asking God for His Word to be revealed; calling upon the Holy Spirit to take over and give me wisdom.
Now, during this season of life, as I am struggling to overcome a food stronghold and make God my stronghold, the one to whom I turn, I know that He is mighty to save! By scanning the road ahead I just might get a glimpse of a bright tomorrow!

Scripture encouragement for today is from Zephaniah 3:17 "The Lord your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing."

Grace 'n Grins,
Judy
