Healthy Hearts Tuesday

Practice - Every change we make in our lives takes time and practice.  Actually a more accurate way to look at this is training.  Changing the way we eat, changing the way we think about food, changing the way we use food as a substitute for an unfulfilled need requires major adjustment in our lives.  We will need to adopt a training regiment to successfully put these changes in place and keep them there. 

We probably need to begin at the beginning - boot camp where we will develop our hearts in a number of ways.  We will exercise...
  • Faith - As we learn more about the strongholds in our lives, we will exercise faith and turn to prayer and God's Word for wisdom and understanding.  We will attain the instruction we need to face each new day with...
  • Fortitude - Giving God the place in our lives He desires we will build our own stamina and strength.  As we move forward God will patch up that hole in our hearts and will fill it with His love as we continue to...
  • Fight - We will learn to do battle with temptation and with our own will.  Each time we are tempted to turn to food it is a struggle to do the right thing, but when our heart has been fortified with God's Word it is just a little bit easier each time...
This sounds simple enough, but we all know that becoming spiritually, emotionally and physically fit takes lots of work.  It is not easy and it never will be, but each day that we are moving forward is a day that we can celebrate.

Scripture encouragement for today is from Psalms 27:1 The Lord is my light and my salvation--whom shall I fear?  The Lord is the stronghold of my life--of whom shall I be afraid?
