Monday - Thanksgiving week

Are you ready?- I was just online checking out calories for a typical Thanksgiving dinner and was surprised to learn how high in calories most of my favorites are.  It is no wonder the holidays are so dangerous for those of us struggling with food.  The season we are entering is not a time to be counting all the weight we will be loosing--no it is a time to work hard to maintain our current weight.

I know myself and I recognize the holidays are going to be a time for me to practice portion control, not weight loss.  I know that I will not make my famous turkey dressing without using butter; I will not make the sweet potato casserole and substitute fat free anything for the sweetened condensed milk.  So that means PORTION CONTROL will have to be put into play.

Here is another tool I will take advantage of--holding the babies during dinner.  When I hold the babies so that their mother and father can enjoy the feast, I am practicing PC and having fun doing it.  Tomorrow we will talk some more about getting through all the upcoming holidays with our pride and our waistlines still in one piece.

Scripture encouragement for today is from Isaiah 48:17 (NIV) "I am the LORD your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go."

Grace 'n Grins,
Judy
