Get a Move On!

More Exercise - There are so many ways to exercise - swim, walk, run - and many reasons to exercise - health, weight management and sanity. I have to say that I love to walk, putting my favorite music, sermon or audio book on my Zune, gives me something to look forward to when exercising.

But I really struggle with the winter.  There are so many excuses for not going outside and walking - it's too cold, I might fall - and while they are legitimate, they are not truly honest reasons.

Right now, before winter sets in, I will research a few new ways to keep moving this winter - gym or Y membership, try a winter sport - cross country skiing, build a snow man with grand kids or shovel the driveway.

This fall, as I already find my mind heading to the "I hate winter" mode I realize that I need an attitude adjustment.  Today I am going to see if I can find a used pair of skis that are in my price range and then I am going to teach myself how to enjoy this sport.  How about you?  Want to share a tip with the rest of us?

Scripture encouragement for today is from Genesis 1:27 "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him: male and female he created them."

Grace 'n Grins,
Judy

  1. I'll confess my odd winter exercise! It's ok to laugh...just revealing a little about myself makes me laugh. While at home ALONE, I put on some good music or whatever I want to listen to. I set the timer (20 minutes usually) and I take off walking in my own home. We have a circular path on our first floor so it works well. I also climb the steps, reverse direction, sing, think out loud, pray, and yes, laugh at how stupid I must look to our kitties. BUT my body doesn't do cold days well...neither does it do well without exercise! Thanks, Judy, for getting us thinking ahead so we can have a plan when the snowflakes fly!
