January 1, 2013
Many of us have
been waiting for this day. It is the official day of do-overs. It
is the day set aside to begin again, to do it right this time. And we do
have good intentions we mean every promise we make and we are serious about
changing our lives for the better.
Many of us are
relieved to have 2012 over. The challenges were overwhelming and at times
we felt like failures. I am learning that this is all normal. Life's
struggles and disappointments are as common as successes and victories.
They are all part of growing stronger and living better.
If I only
experienced smooth sailing, what fun would that be? If the waters were
always calm, how could I enjoy sailing? The thrill of living is learned
from the mistakes made as we navigate rough waters. We feel alive, toss our heads back and relish
the wind in our hair. That doesn’t
happen in calm waters. So, that said,
what are you looking to change in 2013?
Starting today, what is your goal for this New Year? This blog is about our struggles with food
and exercise, but it is also about our struggles with living day by day. I began to write this blog during a season of
life when I realized I had to change my habits.
I had many things that were out of control in my life. I felt the need to get at the root of this
problem that plagued me since childhood.
This need has not changed, but life has. I am in a different place now and I assume
you are too. If you are still breathing,
you are changing, as am I. So, let’s
continue this journey together and acknowledge that, “This is the day the LORD has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.”
(Psalm 118:24)
Grace ‘n Grins,
Judy
